Build systems

Eight editorial observation exercises from the supplied field school. These are prompts to investigate, not reports of hands-on testing.

Graybox before polish

Simple parts expose scale, route and timing problems before art makes them expensive.

Prototype one complete minute using only primitive shapes.

Design one readable goal

Players should understand the next action from space, motion, contrast and feedback—not a paragraph.

Remove the tutorial text and see what the room still communicates.

Separate client and server

Clients present and request; servers validate ownership, rewards, damage and shared truth.

List every RemoteEvent and the checks performed on arrival.

Model data deliberately

Typed tables and versioned schemas make inventories, quests and settings easier to evolve.

Write the shape of one save record before writing persistence code.

Build for touch first

Thumb reach, large targets and clear feedback prevent a desktop interface from shrinking into frustration.

Test the full first session on the narrowest supported screen.

Budget the frame

Instance count, draw calls, scripts, physics and texture memory all compete for weak-device headroom.

Profile the busiest scene, not the empty spawn.

Test with several clients

Race conditions, replication gaps and social flows rarely appear in a one-player test.

Simulate join, leave, reconnect and simultaneous reward claims.

Ship in measured stages

Small releases expose errors and retention changes before every player receives the update.

Define rollback signals before the release button is pressed.
